Abstract

Sensors have a vital role to play across the utility grid, across the "turbine to toaster" utility supply chain, generation, transmission distribution; and across the functional workflows in a utility - planning, operations, asset management, dispatch etc. Traditionally, sensors have not ben installed beyond substations and lately several utilities are pushing sensors on to the MV feeder line. This paper focuses on analytics for such distributed sensors. This paper is organized in the following way: First, we present the importance of distributed sensing and the benefits of it. Second we describe the techniques that are relevant for analytics distributed sensing. Third, we will use the techniques for event classification in distributed sensing. Finally, we will use the techniques for event location detection in distributed sensing.
