In this article, the electromechanical sensitivity analysis of a rough surface contact law with respect to its governing parameters is developed using the direct differentiation method. The numerical accuracy of the method is assessed in two numerical examples. Finally, the identifiability of surface roughness parameters using an inverse method based on numerical optimization is investigated using pseudo-experimental input data.
