Abstract

Predictive monitoring is a technology that helps prevent/favor the occurrence of undesired/desired events: a subject (human being, machine, picture, etc.) is regularly monitored and a suitable system provides predictions about the possible future occurrences (for the subject) of undesired/desired events, allowing this way to take suitable measures in advance. The paper presents CHEERUP: a general software-environment (usable via Internet) for predictive monitoring. CHEERUP provides its users with the possibility of building, using and administering specific predictive monitoring systems (in the paper called portals). Such specific systems are used to monitor a population of subjects and get, for each specific subject, probabilistic predictions about the occurrence of a given undesired/desired event.
