Abstract

A series expansion method and an iterative scheme are presented to estimate states or initial conditions of nonlinear discrete data systems from output measurements when the system equations are known. The methods are based on the Taylor series expansion of the trajectory about some nominal trajectory. The schemes when applied to linear systems result in dead beat observers.
