Abstract

Some technological issues arising out of the paper by Kiparissides and Shah are discussed. It is questioned whether the justifications for suggesting the use of adaptive control are adequate, and if the results presented in the paper can be compared with any validity with the results of PID control. Some important psychological and sociological issues arising out of the paper are also discussed.
