Abstract

In this concluding paper several refinements of the control system are made and a number of important ancillary questions considered. The failures of the control system previously encountered are virtually eliminated by a test for closeness to equilibrium. The model of the system is made more realistic by introducing partial differential equations for the dynamics of the cooling coil. A control scheme based solely on temperature measurements is shown to be workable. The questions of control lags, stability of the optimal path, improved parameter estimation, the determination of reaction order and its effect on the controller performance are also discussed.
