Abstract

A method is introduced for the linear balance calculation and distribution of measurement errors in complex systems with the inclusion of process dynamics. From the dynamic state equations of the system, a matrix difference equation is deduced that is a dynamic equivalent of the steady state balance equations. Such a dynamic balance equation can also be obtained directly from the transfer function based network description of the system. Due to the formal uniformity, the error distribution techniques developed for steady state calculations are applied to the dynamic equations without difficulty. The application of the discussed method is illustrated on two examples.
