In exchanging data between different geometric modelling systems conversions of curve and surface representations are required in order to compensate for differences in the types of polynomial bases, maximum polynomial degrees, and mesh sizes. For this purpose a set of methods is described in this paper, which are to be used in the context of data exchanges between surface modellers by means of the VDA/VDMA standard surface interface.
