Abstract

Based on the findings from an on-going research effort, the authors of this paper^1are aware of an error in the derivation for effective throughput efficiency presented in that paper. The derivation counts incorrectly the number of closure failures for the probabilities p(0)...p(n) resulting in an incorrect total. For example, in p(1) a failure in the last cycle will contribute to the throughput efficiency by (n - 12)n + (k - 1)[n - 5] not 2(n - 12)n + (k - 2)[(n - 5)n] as the analysis assumes. This error is repeated for other values of p. The following text provides a corrected counting argument using a different approach.
