Abstract

A Communications Services Architecture for Computer Supported Cooperative Work is described. Within a layered structure it incorporates media processing, data transport, notification and monitoring services, and multipoint communications. Applications that conform to the architecture can exchange information, monitor each other's activity and transparently use network-based services like data bridging and media conversion. Prototype programs that implement the model are described, together with example communications scenarios showing how interworking is achieved.
