Abstract

In this paper, several energy conserving techniques proposed for peer to peer (P2P) file sharing in mobile phones are meticulously analysed. A cloud based P2P file sharing solution for efficiently sharing multimedia files is proposed for mobile phones particularly when they are running out of resources. An SMC (Smart Mobile Cloud) mobile application and an SMC server application are designed to be implemented in this system. A neighbour selection algorithm, helper classifier algorithm and file chunking algorithm are formulated exclusively for the smart mobile cloud infrastructure. Evaluation of energy conserving WLAN and WPAN protocols are done and the best suited wireless protocol is suggested. This system is tested in field area to find out its working in the real world and to identify the problems which may occur while operating in large scale. Finally, this system's results are compared with other two P2P file sharing systems (cloud torrent and symtorrent) in terms of performance evaluation.
