Abstract

We propose a criterion for the classification of dermatoglyphics, the curvature at the apex of the type line. Designed to be used in anthropological studies of populations, this new index is discussed in comparison with more commonly analyzed characters of dermatoglyphic structures. No inference is made about the morphogenetical significance or origin of the value of this curvature.
