Abstract

Simulation programs are frequently built in a hierarchical modular fashion, by means of progressively low-level blocks or modules. Distinct but related programs usually differ in only a few modules, which probably use distinct low-level modules. Repeated use and building of well-designed modular programs in a specific field may finally result in a simulation package. In this case, program building will be performed by combining the appropiate preexisting blocks. This task, however, may becomes difficult and tedious, specially for inexperienced users, even when sufficiently complete documentation is supplied. To solve this problem an interactive linker is proposed. Using such a linker a simulation package designed in a hierarchical modular fashion can be used in a user-friendly way without additional effort on the part of the designer.
