Abstract

This paper introduces a new matrix product that proves useful in the representation of a large class of orthogonal transforms. It is shown that transform representation in terms of this product provides novel computational methods for computing the fast Fourier transform, the fast Walsh transform, a fast generalized Walsh transform, as well as a fast wavelet transform. Uniqueness and the advantages of this new formalism over traditional methods are also discussed.
