This paper discusses the importance of 'systems analysis', defines its stages and explains the need for other methods of enquiry in the systems analysis process. It suggests that current structured methodology effectiveness can be improved by incorporating 'process'-based and 'issue'-based methodology components. These require both a shift in the treatment of the user and the development of skills to perform 'systems analysis'.
