Abstract

Until recently, there have been no internationally recognized standards for local area networks. The IEEE Computer Society has now published its own draft standard, produced by the Project 802 Committee. The paper evaluates Draft B of this standard, and finds it similar to the 'DIX' Ethernet specification.
