Abstract

Photovideotex is the generic name given to systems which allow the inclusion of high quality photographic images within videotex frames. In this article some of the techniques of digital picture coding for data reduction are applied to photovideotex, with emphasis being given to the medium's special features. The coding methods are compared and a suggestion made as to the probable trend of future photovideotex development.
