Abstract

WLAN systems are considered components of the future composite radio (wireless beyond 3G) infrastructure. This paper presents management functionality for making feasible their efficient integration in heterogeneous radio environments. The first point in our approach will be to revisit the resource management capabilities of the HIPERLAN/2 system, which is used as a reference. Next, will be the brief presentation of the proposed management functionality for the configuration of the power control operation in HIPERLAN/2 systems. Indicative test cases on the exploitation of the management scheme will be presented, towards the direction of validating the proposed approach. Numerical results will be presented and discussed.
