A Defcon event earlier this year highlighted how well-meaning staff are sometimes an organisation's greatest weakness when it comes to security. The hacking conference, which featured a contest that asked social engineers to infiltrate target companies and gain information from employees that could compromise security, was very successful. Employees at every single target company gave information away that they shouldn't have.
