This paper describes a new agent-based routing system (ARS) with QoS routing, resource reservation, and global admission control functions. ARS efficiently allocates network-wide resources for users requiring real-time point-to-point communications with its resource management mechanism, where mobile agents gather current link states for examining the availability of feasible paths maintained in each node. Simulation results show that ARS can utilize more than 55% of all transmission resources when the number of nodes in the network is 42.
