Abstract

Here, we consider a Lognormal Multipath Fading (LMF) channel with receive antenna diversity for a Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO) system. We obtain closed-from expressions for two different adaptation policies such as (i) Optimal Power and Rate Adaptation (OPRA) and (ii) Truncated channel Inversion with Fixed Rate (TIFR) with popular receive antenna diversity techniques like Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) and Equal Gain Combining (EGC). Numerical results show that the use of different adaptation policies in conjunction with MRC and EGC diversity improves capacity as we increase the number of antennas at the receiver. It is also shown that OPRA policy provides the highest capacity compared to TIFR policy.
