Abstract

Although location-based services (LBS) have generated great interest to practitioners and researchers, the acceptance of LBS is not as strong as it has been predicted. Prior studies pointed out that both technology and new business models are critical for the acceptance of LBS. Lately, the integration of LBS and social network websites accelerates the usage of LBS. The objective of this paper is to examine factors that affect consumers' continuance use of LBS. Based on the Expectation and Confirmation Theory, we develop a theoretical framework that integrates technology, service, and social network perspectives to explain the consumers' continuance use of LBS. We conducted a survey to collect data from 332 LBS users and performed PLS to test our model. We found that mobile devices performance, LBS confirmation, and social network confirmation contribute to the satisfaction and continuance use of LBS. Our findings provide practical and theoretical insights in explaining the users' continuance use of LBS.
