This paper introduces a highly efficient and reliable emulation platform for an automatic container loading/unloading yard with a low elevation rail subsystem, for testing and verifying different algorithms. It includes the features of the emulation platform, such as the system architecture, modules, messaging mechanism for inter-communications among modules, and internal structure. It also presents two scheduling algorithms: Centralized (CA) and Multilevel Distributed (MDA). Their optimization strategies and performances are discussed. The results from running the platform have verified the stability, the repeatability and the accuracy of the platform.
