Abstract

The patient records of dental patients have case history details, pathology laboratory details and X-rays giving rise to huge volume of data to be maintained. The maintenance of these records is a problem faced by Dental Hospitals. Many hospitals in developing countries like India work on fully paper based systems. Few hospitals have opted for partially computerized systems, but still many aspects of their system are paper dependent. This paper aims at presenting an idea for the maintenance of dental patient records and X-rays of a dental hospital on the cloud as cloud comes with its inherit advantages of scalability, accessibility, speed and availability. These records are accessed by different users like doctors, laboratory technicians, patients, etc. with a different level of access right data protection mechanism, addressing the security concern of sensitive medical data. The system was tested with records of patients from dental hospital, X-rays were stored and retrieved. It was observed that the system gave the desired result of performance for storing, retrieving, searching of records and X-rays of a particular case.
