Abstract

Manufacturing system design is a hard job when a new factory is built. Although some factories produce the same product, the layouts of the factories may be different. The machining line of body shop in an automotive factory is a typical assembly line, but the layout concept of the line is different among factories. In this paper, a simulation study on the design concept of the manufacturing system for automotive engine is discussed. For the comparison, two types of real body shop lines in different factories are analyzed.
