Abstract

In this paper, we propose space-38, new media heritage place for the unification of South and North Korea. The main idea is to formulate the heritage place by collecting the individual contents both in the virtual and real world. We set the design goals with the concept of sharing the will of unification; (1) To create sense of place, we provide visitors identity of space and personalized experience, (2) To enable personalized experience, we provide personal contents to each individual visiting the place, (3) To get continuous interest in creating cultural heritage, we facilitate online access. We explain the concept with three main design factors, which consists Space-38 are space, contents and interface. With the concept and configuration, we illustrate the process of how visitors experience and participate. Lastly, we exemplify how our idea can be implemented in one of the unification places.
