Mapping relational databases to knowledge bases is a fundamental prerequisite to many data integration activities in databases and in Semantic Web. The crucial issue is then capturing and mapping database integrity constraints in the way that ensures preservation of semantics of data. We propose a set of rules defining dependencies between a relational database and a knowledge base founded on OWL 2 EL. The theory of data exchange is then adapted to develop data-to-knowledge exchange with preservation of data semantics.
