Retinex is a theory describing the color consistency of human visual system. Its essence is to put aside the influence of illumination image L from image S, and to get reflectance properties R which is the real appearance of the object. Trilateral filter is a recently reported filtering technology which can preserve edges and remove noise as well. In this paper, we propose a Retinex image enhancement method based on trilateral filter. The proposed method enjoys the benefits of trilateral filter, which not only enhance image contrast and aviod "halos" but also preserve edges and texture. Experimental results show the good behavior of our proposed method.
