Abstract

This paper describes a real time signal processing subsystem used to perform character scaling and rotation. First, the algorithms used in the subsystem are described. The algorithms were developed for performing sorting decisions on mail for the USPS. The computational complexity of the algorithms implemented in the subsystem is then reviewed, and finally the implementation of the algorithms in discrete logic, DSP's, and FPGA's is discussed.
