Abstract

Palm vein is a promising personal identification method for human recognition. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of the existing palm vein systems, a novel algorithm based on curvelet transform is proposed. The technique utilizes the curvelet transform to extract curve-like features from vein patterns and provides optimally sparse representations of the patterns. For evaluation, HK Poly University multispectral palmprint database is used. The experimental results reveal that the system is robust and encouraging.
