Dihua Street, a celebrated historic district in Taiwan, was chosen as the subject of the current study. Through three-dimensional (3D) modeling, namely point clouds and reverse engineering, featured in 3D laser scanners, the researcher restored the appearance of cultural heritage and enhanced authenticity in historical preservation. Besides, on the basis of the Taiwan Cultural Heritage Conservation Law, the researcher planned the framework of a digital database and developed a safety monitoring system with a management platform for 3D digital data. As a result, the law serves as a base for applying digital preservation of historical sites in Taiwan as well as integrated management of historical rehabilitation.
