Abstract

In the past few years, a great attention has been paid for digitizing and indexing cultural heritage resources, particularly Arabic manuscripts. Most Arabic manuscript libraries use traditional metadata for describing its resources. They also provide little or no support for annotation. In this paper we propose a system that extends one of the popular Arabic manuscripts libraries, Makhtota maintained by King Saud University, with a document level semantic metadata. The system will also propose the use of a manual annotation mechanism to enrich manuscripts' pages with linked data.
