Abstract

Literacy in a medium means being able to use it to communicate to our fellow human beings. Literacy means that we can recognize good and bad attempts in the medium and avoid the latter while employing the former. By that standard, many, even in the graphics field, are not visually literate. As a consultant I'm called in to fix what's gone awry. I want to share with you some of the most frequently made --- and easily prevented --- blunders by visual designers, especially as they move to electronic media.
