Abstract

Many Colleges and Universities offer both Computer Science (CS) and Computer Information Systems (CIS) degrees. Typically, CS is housed with Mathematics, Engineering or technology while CIS is housed with Business. At the University of Southern Indiana (USI), CS and CIS are housed together in the College of Business in the Department of Management and Information Sciences. This placement has led to synergies which have helped faculty deal with strained resources, and helped students participate in a better, more diverse curriculum. In light of other universities sharing a similar resource constraint, we feel the information presented here may be used as a guideline for curriculum development where similar sharing of resources might be an option.
