Abstract

Wireless video sensor networks (WVSN) find wide range applications. In an WVSN, many low power sensors transmit video information to usually one central server. Wyner-Ziv video coding (WZVC) framework is ideal for this scenario as WZVC enables lowering the complexity and power requirements of sensors at the expense of relatively high complexity receiver. In this paper, we present a new cross layer distributed vide coding scheme that combines application and physical layers. This scheme not only achieves the same peak signal to noise ratio at a lower transmission rate, but also enhances the security without much additional complexity.
