Wireless as hoc networks consist of Computer Nodes with radio transceivers, which allow the nodes to send and receive data over the air. This provides for the mobility of the nodes. Any information sent over the air is susceptible to interception. This paper presents an implementation of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a scheme for data transfer between the nodes in ad hoc networks, which provides for data privacy in the same. Even if the data is intercepted it is unintelligible to the attacker. Analysis on the system, tested on laptops as nodes, is also included. This system can be implemented in heterogeneous airborne network which consist of various types of manned (handheld and vehicle based) and unmanned (UAV and UGV) nodes connected with one another in a wireless ad hoc network.
