This paper reports on the fourth Information Interaction in Context (IIiX) Symposium held in Nijmegen, the Netherlands in August 2012. It featured a lively program with 3 keynotes, 25 long papers with oral presentation, 20 short papers with poster presentation, a doctoral consortium, a workshop on human-computer information retrieval, and was followed by a summer school on information foraging. IIiX'12 is an ACM and ACM SIGIR in cooperation conference with its proceedings published by the ACM.
