Abstract

Personalized Information Retrieval (IR) is a research field that allows the implementation of information access systems involving the user in the search process. This is achieved by representing the user's profile in order to adapt the IR system functioning to his context. This paper presents a new IR system approach capable of integrating the user in the search process. As a first step of the approach, we focused on building user interests to better understand his information needs, by capturing his judgments about the returned results. Then, our system will optimize the user query, by re-injecting relevance using a genetic algorithm. To illustrate our approach, we have realized a prototype of our system and applied it on a case study.
