Abstract

Recent research to measure the viewing quality (or QoE) of user-generated video focuses on transmission phenomena, e.g., stalling, or the effects of transcoding resulting from using compression algorithms. Our motivation is that current models and metrics do not respect degradations as well as opportunities common when recording with mobile phones. Such degradations may include occlusions or shaking of the camera. To achieve a sound understanding on the viewing quality of video streaming our work proposes a multiple experiment, crowdsourcing approach conducted on the platform Microworkers
