Abstract

The mobile communication location management with a self-similar stream is studied. In this paper, we propose a model of a pointer forwarding strategy with the self-similar stream and propose the model a pointer forwarding strategy with threshold for mobility management. This paper investigates these models and obtains probability formulas of the count of the location areas for a mobile crossing by overcoming analytic difficulty. These results provide a theoretical basis for quantitative evaluation of mobility management.
