Abstract

Topology discovery and alias resolution techniques provide a way to obtain IP-level maps with the only collaboration of known behaviors of routers. There is no public information about network topology of Internet Service Providers and resolution techniques, but not in comparing and studying alias resolution with periodical measurements in the same network for extensive periods of time. The results show values close to 300 days for the time that the same IP interfaces remain in the same router for the 94% of the cases. It means that alias resolution techniques can be distributed in long periods of time without loss of accuracy or reliability.
