Abstract

Smart mobile devices such as smartphones and smart-pads based on Android or iOS are becoming more widely used. As smart mobile devices are increasingly used, their applications are also widely used for various purposes. Illegal uses of copyrighted applications are on the rise as well. Therefore, protecting the copyrights of applications is becoming a very important issue. A watermark-based copyright-protection scheme can be adapted to prevent application piracy. In this paper, we propose a simple cost model that involves the embedding of multiple watermarks onto applications. Based on the cost model, we analyze the efficiency of multiple watermarks for protecting applications through a mathematical analysis. This allows a user to choose the best number of watermarks to be inserted considering the cost.
