Abstract

The key task of security system is to verify that the users are in fact who they claim to be. Fingerprint identification may be preferred over traditional methods (e.g. passwords, smart-cards) because its information is virtually impossible to steal, therefore This paper presents a proposed system with firefly algorithm as a swarm intelligence technique in order to extract features from fingerprint images. Firefly algorithm (FA) is a swarm-based algorithm, which was inspired by the flashing behavior of fireflies. Results of the proposed system prove that firefly algorithm can be used as one of the best search techniques, because the matching of extracted features for (300) users is (100%) with suitable time (52 sec) for each user.
