Abstract

With the ever increasing health emergency monitoring demand from a broad range of demographics that need close monitoring beyond the geographic distance barrier, such as senior people, patients, and those who have high tendencies to have medical emergencies, such as stroke, seizure, heart attack etc., the requires of an efficient and economical solution is highly desirable. This paper presents the design of a comprehensive patient and senior independent living tele-robotics health emergency guard system to provide pervasive security intelligence for personal health protection. It is able to assist patient and senior's independent living in real-time with the latest tele-control & video communication technology. In collaborating with course project of "Software for Robotics", we have designed and developed three different functional prototypes to evaluate the design, and have deployed the latest prototype in a senior house facility for extensive testing, eliciting real-life data and further requirements. The preliminary experiment shows a promising result.
