Abstract

The study of organizational communications has proceeded without a widely accepted model. In this paper a framework of analysis for organizational communication is presented. It is based on the OSI model of data communication which was developed as a standard model to guide data communications systems development. The OSI model is composed of seven layers that each have responsibility for various aspects of data communications. Using this model as a guide, comparisons are made to an organizational communication network resulting in a model of organizational communications.
