Abstract

Anew method for computing positive time-frequency distributions(TFDs) for nonstationary signals is presented. This work extendsthe earlier work of the author and his colleagues in computingpositive TFDs [8,11]. This paper describes a general quadraticprogramming approach to the problem of computing these signal-dependentdistributions. The method is based on an evolutionary spectrumformulation of positive TFDs. The minimization problem reducesto a linearly-constrained quadratic programming problem, forwhich standard solutions are widely available.
