Abstract

In this paper, an integrated CAD system built around the database COSMIC is briefly introduced, then the COSMIC interface is described in some details. COSMIC is a multi-user, multi-base system, able to take into account multi-level circuit representations, such as functional, logical, symbolic or layout descriptions, as well as connectivity notions at both logical and geometric levels. It also includes protection and security facilities, management of propagation of changes through the design, and mechanisms of communication between databases that allow a team of designers to work in parallel on the same circuit.
