Abstract

We will describe a transformation of an object-oriented knowledge-based simulation language implemented with procedural behaviors: Rand Corporation's ROSS language, into ART-ROSS, an integrated rule and object based implementation and extension of the ROSS language. The implementation of ART-ROSS in a state-of-the-art integrated language (Inference Corporation's ARTTM) provides benefits of increased flexibility, simplified architecture, full explanation capability, and access to the vectorized message passing capability known as multi-methods.
