Abstract

This paper discusses some design considerations and the features of an interactive, general purpose, automated scheduling system. The objective of Flight Operations Planning Schedule System (FOPSS) project is to develop an automated scheduling system to handle the scheduling workload requirement of the planned flight rate in the shuttle mature operation time frame. FOPSS has been developed for NASA and is in use by Mission Operations Directorate of JSC, Houston to support the preflight planning for Shuttle manned space flight operations. Currently, FOPSS can schedule and maintain the status of up to 50,000 activities.
