Abstract

The primary focus in computer science education has been on computers as programmable devices rather than on computers as information handling devices which can add value to business. The skills for identifying opportunities to use information for competitive advantage are becoming increasingly important to computer science students. This paper presents examples of the use of information for competitive advantage, defines skill requirements, and discusses implications for computer science curricula.
